The study of samizdat Soviet era began at the end of XX century; The history of small creative communities of late-Soviet time, who created own aesthetics, still remained terra incognita. The proposed publication partially fills this gap. The author has built a book on the basis of the archive of the Moscow Art Group of 1960-70-ies, which produced the self-published magazine “Marks”. The edition includes sources on History of the Soviet samizdat and art groups of Moscow of the second half of XX century.
According to the compiler, during the selection of texts, photo and film materials for publication, the rate was made for the event, unique, ephemeral and, perhaps, it is therefore able to express the freedom of creativity. In the preface I. In the. Semenenko-basin writes:
“Over the archives of the group” Fiction “and the magazine” Marks “I could not get rid of the feeling of some ghostly opening of the picture. The river of historical time flows all over, from the source to the mouth, not freezing at any point of its route. The faces and events of the forty-year-old are in incessant motion, moving away from us every hour – because we are moving in time. Peering into the past, I allow myself a preliminary remark: in the center of the existence of the informal artistic group was the experience of life, the experience of “being human” in the creative affinity with each other. In such a situation the art event became for the group members the birth of humanity. And one more thing-in the members of the group “fiction” I was pleasantly surprised by the ability to treat myself and culture without distrust.
